Marc Decho Skwiercz
Marc Decho Skwiercz started his musical career as a guitarist, eventually becoming a teacher at the Conservatory of Music in Quebec. Several years later, after hearing a Cachao record, he decided to change his instrument of choice to the doublebass and began many years of study in Latin and Cuban music.
Marc has studied with legendary bebop pianist Dr. Barry Harris, saxophonist Dave Liebman, master trumpeter Cecil Bridgewater, avant-garde doublebassist/ composer Mark Dresser and the great Cuban bassist/composer/arranger Reinaldo Crespo.
Currently Marc is performing with and leading several latin and jazz combos in Ottawa. He can also be heard weekly on CHUO 89.1 FM where he hosts an afrobeat/ Latin funk/rare groove program.
